Official release of the C-TAP v10.1 specifications

posted 1 Aug 2016, 03:48 by Acquiris Secretariat   [ updated 5 Apr 2017, 07:14 ]

The C-TAP v10.0 specifications were released in spring 2012 and successfully deployed by the Acquiris members. Since that date terminal vendors supply C-TAP v10.0 equipment that can connect to the acquiring infrastructure of at least 17 acquirers and acquiring processors to accept more than 30 card brands.

To align with the evolving acquiring market demand and the scheme rules, a number of functions were added or adjusted to the initial 2012 specifications. This mainly was operated by specification update bulletins.

It was decided in 2015 to consolidate these changes in a new version – the C-TAP v10.1 – to guarantee internal consistency and to trust the optional implementation of these specification updates to a more comprehensive and transparent version management. This version was prepared and reviewed in 2015 and early 2016 by our members.

The final version of the C-TAP v10.1 has been approved by the Acquiris Board on 29 June 2016. This board also decided that C-TAP v10.1 will be deployed by the end of April 2017.

This means that:

  • By that date all acquiring host systems shall be able to support C-TAP v10.1 in parallel with the present C-TAP v10.0.
  • After that date only terminals conforming to the C-TAP v10.1 specifications can be submitted for certification.

This release confirms the ability of the Acquiris association and its members to broaden the coverage of specifications and keep the alignment with the supported scheme rules while also guaranteeing the essential interoperability of versions that is critical in the card transaction processing industry.

Conformance with the EPC/CSG "Standardisation Volume"

posted 3 Oct 2014, 06:16 by Acquiris Secretariat   [ updated 3 Oct 2014, 06:16 ]

The EPC and Cards Stakeholders published the SEPA Cards Standardisation Volume v7.0 (reference EPC020-08) on 12 December 2013.

Acquiris issues a voluntary conformance statement for the C-TAP specifications to clarify that implementations align with the SEPA Cards Standardisation Volume v7.0. In addition, these specifications offer functionality that matches with market requirements that have not yet been formulated in the “Volume”.

A document illustrates the conformance of the C-TAP specifications for POI connecting to acquiring host systems and the Acquiris role as “Specification provider” and “Certification Provider” with this “Volume”.

C-TAP v10 now operational

posted 9 Aug 2013, 06:53 by Acquiris Secretariat   [ updated 3 Oct 2014, 06:15 ]

The C-TAP v10 specifications were approved by the Board of Acquiris on 21 March 2012. As specified by the rules, one year later all new terminals or upgraded version from existing version are certified according to the SEPA-wide v10 specifications.

The first v10 terminals were recently installed for live operation.

All acquiring host systems (acquirers and acquiring processors) now process the v10 specifications. Of course, the support for the NL and BE v3.x terminal specifications remains operative until further notice, as as about 450.000 terminals are already installed.
